And I'm back...

I took a temporary leave of absence from blogging.. But I'm back.

Anyways, for all of you that don't know, I passed my thesis defense with flying colors. I don't mean to brag.. a lot.. but one doctor on my committee said that I re-set the bar for a master's thesis defense. So, I think I did pretty well.

After that big day last Wednesday, we flew to Utah on Thursday to see my baby sister Julie graduate from BYU. Pretty boring graduation ceremony--both Graham and I read books--but it was nice nonetheless. On Saturday we hung out in Park City and went to the Melting Pot to celebrate the big graduation. I won't describe it in detail, but don't take large groups there. Not fun. They had fabulous dessert, though.. so I'd recommend going there only for that.

Graham played his first softball game on Monday, which was fun.. except for the rain.

So yeah.. I promise to update the blog more now that I'm done with my thesis. I still have a lot more to do until school is done on June 17th, but I'm much less stressed.

FYI, I haven't followed up on the potential job yet, so be patient..

Awesome Job "Offer"..

Ok, so I was going up to the receptionist's office at OHSU in the Health Promotion and Sports Medicine Department, when the receptionist brought up a potential job opening in their department that my thesis mentor recommended me for.. Apparently, I come highly recommended as a great multi-tasker and as having a sunny disposition.

Get this:
--It's a position for an interventionist with a masters degree (which I'll be getting very soon)
--I'd work with NFL teams and coaches and their sponsor schools
--I'd be implementing and promoting these two programs at high schools around the country: Atlas and Athena. These programs aim to lower drug use and eating disorders in high school sports teams.
--I get to travel around the U.S. and work with NFL people. HELLO?! Sign me up!
--I get to work with teenagers, something I've been doing my whole life.
--I get to be a good example and promote good values and morals.

Bad side:
--I travel for blocks of time.. away from Graham. We don't even like leaving each other in the mornings.

So, I'll find out about this job in the next few weeks or so.. Graham kind of wants to stay in Portland for a few years, and this job is based in Portland, so.. we'll see. It'll depend on the salary and amount of time spent away from home. Plus, it'd just be my first job, not something permanent.

Does this not sound like the most awesome job?

Opposition in all things...

Yes, I know there must be opposition in all things, that we may know the good from bad the bad, the light from the dark, the pain from the joy...

But does Portland HAVE to be so rainy? It's so depressing.

However, when it is a sunny day in Portland, it is absolutely gorgeous. You can see all of the big mountains in the disance, and all you want to do is soak in the sunshine. Really, all hell breaks loose in Portland when there's a sunny day after a week or two without sun. People leave work early, and bikers are out in full force.

What makes it even worse is that I can't go outside and enjoy the nice weather.. My thesis has taken over my life. Literally. It is all I do. I don't even know Graham anymore. My life has turned back into what it was before I met Graham: sad, lonely, and full of schoolwork.

There is a bit of light at the end of this tunnel...

I deliver my oral defense in 2.5 weeks. That's not so bad right?

So, from all of this opposition, all of the hard work, I will truly understand and appreciate the lack of schoolwork and free evenings.

To bang or not to bang?

Don't worry, this is not a dirty post..

I'm getting a much-needed haircut next week, and I need bangs again. However, I cannot decide on which style to do: the straight bangs or the side bangs.

My hair is growing out to be quite long, so I can try to pull off the straight bangs again (my face is too round with short hair), but I love side bangs.

What do you think?
