Ok, so I was bored this evening and started surfing random blogs. I came across a lot of blogs of young Mormon newlyweds and young Mormon families.. and was disgusted.
Seriously.
Do we have to misspell every traditional name to make it unique? Does adding a Y, Z or K make a name cool?
Or what about those super weird names that have to be made up or found in an archaic version of Webster's dictionary, like Traeger? How can you even tell if that's a boy or a girl?
What about the ultra-Mormon name Talmage? Why don't you just name your son Uchtdorf or Faust?
How about Talon.. as in.. "do the chickens have large talons?"
Come on people.. You make me sick.
A working mom's musings on life, nutrition, beauty, and home making. Nothing too important.

Please don't have a title like that again. I freaked out. And didn't you read my blog this day?

AMEN!!! What happened to normal names and normal spellings? The poor teachers who have to pronounce them. I know a kid named Brixton. Ick. Let me just tell you Sherri that Tommy and I will have normally named children and I hope that you and Graham will do the same!
Cause Sherri is the most normal way to spell your name...
I've been stalking you through Julie's blog and I totally agree. I have a friend who works at Primary Childrens Medical Center and her patients have the worst names. There was a little boy whose name was Recker---and yes, his dad drove a tow truck.
Hahaha, "do these chickens have large talons?" "what" "DO THESE CHICKENS have large talons?" "Boy I can't understand a word you're sayin'!"
That's funny.
You crack me up. Talon. I can totally see someone naming their kid that. It's a fine balance between wanting to be different and just being weird or cruel to your poor kids. Davin is kind of different and a lot of people think it's Gavin, but it's not that weird. Also, we like to balance out our somewhat different first names with traditional family middle names:
Weston Robert and Davin James
Actually, Weston is Ian's middle name so that is a pretty normal family name.
OK, sorry this is so long. You're funny and I hope I never think that misspelling a name is cool.
PS-Have a blast in Hawaii!!!
Read this the other day. Those names are nothing compared to whats going on in this article. Poor kids.
